1. Sufism is awesome ,even for a core atheist like myself......all that peace ,dancing and poetry is to die for,very cool ,I was told it was the purest form of Islam.....SO WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED to it??
2. umbanda is more to do with spiritism while sufi are mostly on mysticism side I do not know much but from what I do know I can tell they are nothing alike

For Muslims this is not a surprise story as Islam says that all religions now available are taught by prophets from time to time earlier and it later became polluted due to human interference in the teachings of prophets and thus became invalid. Around 1.24 Lakhs of various prophets were appointed by the God at various period for isolated societies and finally prophet Muhammad was appointed as last prophet for entire man kind with a holy book called Holy Quran valid for all human society until dooms day.and whatever previous prophets taught are approved as Islam by Muslims in its original form.
