What is the difference between an energy audit infrared tool and a thermal camera?
I would like to know as much information as possible on the advancements in thermal infrared and energy audit technology tools and what devices will be required to help save this country $1 billion in energy costs. I would also like to start a business in this field.
Public Comments
- I believe they are the same technology and we use them to find air leaks, cold and hot spots and thermal bridging in homes and buildings.
- They are the same thing. Infrared auditing is a tough business to get into. And with the price of thermal imagers coming down, more and more businesses are doing thermal inspections in-house. I have a Mikron 7815, which I use for residential audits. For residential audits you need a very sensitive camera that can distinguish temperature differences less than 0.1C.
